Activity: September 2018: Camping
On September 14th, I went to Martin Dies Jr. State Park for a campout with my Boy Scout troop. I was the leader of my small group of 4 young teenage boys, and–I'll be honest–it was painful. I went canoeing with the group and was in charge of making sure all the boys had food, but my terrible mistake of forgetting to bring extra water (and reminding the kids to) made what was supposed to be a fun and relaxing day of paddling become slightly less fun. Add in the heat and humidity of southern Texas and the day becomes a little bit more difficult. The campers certainly didn't make things easier, and the constant chatter and comments of "when's dinner" or "James stole my book" made things a little bit less pleasant for me. I eventually became a little bit impatient before I ordered them to go back to their tents, and I realized that I was not helping them have a good time.
